Captivated by His Love
“…He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
~ Zephaniah 3:17b

Quietly He calls out to her.
In the stillness she hears His still small voice
wooing her from the distance.
She listens attentively,
longing to hear His sweet voice again,
captivated by His love.
The balmy air whisks her softly to Him.
He beckons to her, drawing attention to Himself.
She smiles a smile she hasn’t felt for some time.
He pursues and catches her,
and captivates her by His love.
Her thoughts drift back to yesterdays,
to the fragrance of honeysuckle that perfumes the countryside.
Woodpeckers pecking for insects in a hollow tree call for her attention.
She walks towards the sunset.
Through the trees, just beneath the horizon
He appears to her again
as a blazing ball of fire looking at her as through a lattice
in the dusk of the evening sky.
In the distance He woos herself to Him,
romancing her with a symphony of peepers and birds
orchestrated by the Master.
The dreams that she had may have slipped away,
yet she holds onto the memories of yesterdays.
Through the lace curtains He appears once again
in the fullness of the moon.
Drifting behind the illuminated clouds, He watches over her,
giving His beloved sleep.
Often in her darkest moments
He reveals Himself to her in subtle ways.
In the dancing of butterflies in the noon day sun
He encourages her before flittering away.
The Lord appears to each of us
in subtle, individual ways.
For He takes great delight in us
and quiets us with His love.
