Dear
Soul,
What
would you say if you were asked,
"Are
you good enough to go to heaven?"
Maybe
you think,
"I
haven't been such a bad person."
"I
go to church, sometimes..."
"I
think my good outweigh my bad."
But
what does the Scripture say about your condition?
The
scripture says,
"For
all have sinned,
and
come short of the glory of God."
~ Romans 3:23
"All
of our righteousness are as filthy rags..."
~ Isaiah 64:6b
That
doesn't sound too comforting does it?
We
are all born sinners since the fall of Adam.
Daily
we struggle with desires that are not pleasing to God.
The
Lord gave us the Ten Commandments
to
be held up as a mirror to reveal to us our dirty hearts.
But
thanks be to God that we have a Savior
who
understands our weaknesses.
He
is familiar with our temptations
having
been tempted in all areas of life,
yet
without sin.
Take
a moment to search your heart.
How
well are you doing in keeping the Ten Commandments?
1-
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
Soul,
are there any other gods in your life
besides
the One and True God?
2-
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any grave image..."
Have
you ever bowed down or worship anything or anyone but God?
3-
"Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain."
Have
you ever used the Lord's name in profanity,
even
in a heated moment?
4-
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy."
Do
you set aside the Lord's day as a day of rest,
or
is it just another day of the week?
5-
"Honor thy father and thy mother"
Do
you obey your parents with a reverent heart,
or
do you obey them grudgingly?
6-
"Thou shalt not kill"
Have
you ever killed someone, or wished them dead?
7-
"Thou shalt not commit adultery"
Have
you ever committed adultery,
or
lusted after someone in your heart?
8-
"Thou shalt not steal"
Have
you ever stolen anything? Anything...
9-
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor"
Have
you ever told a lie about another?
10
- "Thou shalt not covet"
Have
you ever desired anything that belonged to another person?
In
the light of God's commandments, how well did you do?
It's
a sobering thought, isn't it!
We
are all guilty of sin. You are and so am I.
The
Scripture says,
"For
whosoever shall keep the whole law,
and
yet offend in one point, he is guilty of them all.
~
James 2:10
Only
when we realize the awfulness of our sin against God,
and
feel its deep sorrow in our hearts
can
we turn from the sin we once loved
and
accept the Lord Jesus as our Savior.
"That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and
shalt believe in thine heart
that
God hath raised him from the dead,
thou
shalt be saved."
~ Romans 10:9
Don't
fall asleep without Jesus
until
you are assured of a place in heaven.
Tonight,
if you would like to receive the gift of eternal life
first
you must believe in the Lord.
You
have to ask for your sins to be forgiven
and
put your trust in the Lord.
To be a
believer in the Lord, ask for eternal life.
There's only one way to heaven and
that's through the Lord Jesus.
That's
God's wonderful plan of salvation.
You
can begin a personal relationship with Him
by
praying from your heart a prayer such as the following:
"Oh God,
I am a sinner.
I 've been a sinner all of my life.
Forgive me,
Lord.
I receive
Jesus as my Savior.
I trust Him
as my Lord.
Thank you for
saving me.
In Jesus'
name, Amen."
If you have received the
Lord Jesus as your personal Savior
after
reading this invitation, please let us know.
We
would love to hear from you. Your first name is sufficient.
"Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be
saved"
~ Acts 2:21b
