The Journey Through Grief

"And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them;

and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara:

for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.

I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home again empty."

~ Ruth 1:5, 1:20-21a

Oh, the deep waters of grief

when a sudden surge of tears spin your life out of control.

You don't know if you can go on, but you do,

because you have to.

You feel your world falling apart around you.

Things always look worse in the darkness of the night.

In the midst of your pain you hurl accusations at God.

Yet, He never lets go of your hand.

Your heartache bursts into a flood of despair

and you weep inconsolably.

In your hurt God often seems silent.

Friends don't offer much consolation

as you're swept away in the current of grief.

There are times in your life that involve famine and restoration.

A season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance."

~ Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

Looking back, you will see His providential hand

as He orders the circumstances in your life.

Once they have accomplished their purpose you shall see their fulfillment

as He weaves the dark threads into His perfect plan.

God is in no hurry...

Nothing can thwart His plans.

He has an appointed time

at which every detail shall be accomplished.

The dark threads of your life shall be woven in such a way

to reveal your life, a tapestry of His grace.

"When thou passest through the waters,

I will be with thee;

and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:

when thou walkest through the fire,

thou shalt not be burned;

neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."

       ~ Isaiah 43:2

Dear soul,

In your deepest grief,

the Lord will look after you and take care of you.

Although you may not understand the reason why

He has allowed your season of suffering.

Rest assured that He will use even this

for His redemptive glory.

The Scripture says,

"For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,

but have everlasting life."

       ~ John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,

and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,

thou shalt be saved."

            ~ Romans 10:9

Don't fall asleep without Jesus

until you are assured of a place in heaven.

Tonight, if you would like to receive the gift of eternal life

first you must believe in the Lord.

You have to ask for your sins to be forgiven

and put your trust in the Lord.

To be a believer in the Lord, ask for eternal life.

There's only one way to heaven and that's through the Lord Jesus.

That's God's wonderful plan of salvation.

You can begin a personal relationship with Him

by praying from your heart a prayer such as the following:

"O God, I am a sinner.

I am sorry for my sins.

I want to turn from my sin.

I receive Jesus Christ as my Savior;

I confess Him as my Lord.

From now on I want to follow Him.

In Jesus' name, Amen."

If you have received the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior

after reading this invitation, please let us know.

We would love to hear from you. Your first name is sufficient.

We'll leave the light on for you...

Welcome to the family of God!

We are excited about your decision to accept the Lord Jesus as your Savior,

and would like to encourage you to find a local church that you could be a part of

to help you grow in your new walk with Him.

Also, we encourage you to develop a personal relationship with the Lord

by reading the Scriptures and praying to Him often.

Talk to Him as you would talk to a dearest friend.

He desires that closeness and intimacy with you!

"He shall feed his flock like a shepherd:

he shall gather the lambs with his arm,

and carry them in his bosom,

and gently lead those that are with young."

                 ~ Isaiah 40:11
